Today, The New York Times published “The Nuns Who Bought and Sold Human Beings: America’s nuns are beginning to confront their complicity in slavery, but it’s still a long road to repentance.” online.
The Religious of the Sacred Heart have committed ourselves to a better understanding of the ongoing issues of racism in the world and the Society’s participation in the historic sin of slavery. As we more publicly share this story, as in this article, we know there is more to do to reconcile this history and for healing. We look forward to continuing this dialogue.
